I'm Back! With October Favorites :)

Wow I cannot believe it's been almost 3 months since my last post. School has not allowed time for me to do anything. When I'm not doing homework or working, all I want to do is sleep. I haven't even had time to finish reading my Pretty Little Liars books :(

Okay so I personally have never done a favorites, but I love watching them on YouTube for some reason. They're like one of my favorite types of videos to watch and I don't know why. So now I feel its necessary to tell you about mine.. after I ramble some more of course.

Since I've been at school, I'm literally a lazy bum. Although I am taking 18 credit hours (6 classes), which is the max, and I'm working between 10-15 hours a week, I still consider myself a bum. I'm late for class almost every day because I sleep until the very last minute. With that being said, I don't have time to do my makeup. Sometimes I don't even care and still put on makeup, but usually I am just not feelin' it.

Even though I only wear makeup about 4 times during the week, I still insist on buying it like crazy. I even turned my desk into a vanity. OKAY. Enough with the rambling, on with the favorites.

My first absolute holy grail product is Revlon ColorStay Foundation for Combination/Oily skin. This is the BEST foundation I've gotten my hands on. I can't get enough of it. It is the first and only foundation out of the million that I've tried that leaves my skin matte all day. I mean ALL DAY. My only complaint about the product is that it is extremely runny.. it's literally like water. But I still love it. It's super light, yet incredibly buildable. You can easily build it to full coverage. I usually stipple it on because I found that works best for me. I tried using a sponge, like the BeautyBlender, from Sephora but it just only seemed to soak up the product and I found myself using almost twice as much as I would with my stippling brush. It's relatively inexpensive for the quality that it is. I buy it at Wal-Mart where it is $9.98. Usually drugstores have Revlon products BOGO50, but the product itself is more expensive.. somewhere around $12.99. So if you take the deal at a drugstore or if you buy it at Wal-Mart you'll be paying the same amount.

My next favorite product is Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer. Let me just say, this is a miracle. I've never had a problem with dry skin, but a couple weeks ago my skin got so dry, like painful dry. My under-eye area felt like it was ripping and it looked that way too. It was brutal. The rest of my face was a desert too. This cured it all. It's thick and creamy and wonderful. To be honest, you don't even need a full pump of this stuff. I usually use a half of a pump and that's plenty. It's fairly inexpensive. I think the sign at Wal-Mart said $2.97, but I honestly don't know how much I paid for it. Whatever I paid, it was more than worth it.

When I do put on a full application of makeup, I have reached for nothing but Wet N Wild's Knock on Wood trio. I only use the brown though. I usually use a tapered brush, but that is literally the only shadow I pick up.

IN LOVE with NYC Cheek 2 Cheek duo blusher in Sienna Sun. It's usually a hit or miss when shopping for cosmetics at the Dollar Tree, but I was definitely winning with this one. The blush is the PERFECT shade for me and it doesn't take much product at all. It can also be used as a contour shade. It's just a beautiful red, brown color that really compliments my skin tone. The highlighter. Oh! The highlighter! It might be the most beautiful highlighter I've ever seen. It's a pinkish, goldish, slightly reddish color. Basically, I can't rave about it any more than I already did. Now, I have no idea if you can buy this in stores still (which I'm hoping you can), but if not, you can order it online. Usually if the Dollar Tree is selling it, it's more than likely not in stores. Hopefully I get my hands on another one soon.

I love trying new mascaras. I have long, curly lashes and I love anything that will make them look better. I always fall back into the trap of LashBlast but I needed to venture out.  L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes in the blackest black. I love it! It really makes my lashes look fake. It's one of the rubbery brushes and it's kind of flimsy. It took me a couple times to get used to how to apply it, but that's all mascaras. The formula itself is really nice though. It's not too dry and it's not too wet, it's right in the middle. I usually do two coats of mascara because I need it, but I really only need one coat of this. It's fabulous. I paid $7 at Wal-Mart.

Non-makeup, but still beauty related. I've been trying to use the least amount of heat and products on my hair and I've been in love with Pantene Relaxed & Natural Daily Oil Cream Moisturizer. It smells great and it works. What more could I ask for. I'm too lazy to use a million products on my hair after I wash it and all I use is this and I'm set. It makes my hair so soft and moisturized without being greasy. I can't remember how much I paid.. less than $6.

Lengthy, but I haven't been here in almost 3 months! It's so crazy. I've totally missed blogging though. I bought a lot of new things and I'll more than likely do a first impression of my new things or just a haul. I wish I could write a paper as easily as I wrote this blog.

P.S. I'll add pictures later :)

Still Alive!

Hello lovelies!

I apologize for the lack of posting. The past three weeks have been a whirlwind between work (or lack there of), getting everything sorted out with my car, and getting ready to go back to school. I leave for school tomorrow so hopefully my schedule will allow me to post at least once a week.

I absolutely cannot believe how fast this summer has gone. College is the devil. I don't want three and a half months off of school if it makes my summer go by so fast! This summer was a different one. Can't say I necessarily enjoyed it as much as I should've. Hopefully the next couple semesters go by equally as fast so I can have a career and not waste my money on school and devilish books.

I probably should be packing and doing laundry and whatnot considering I'll be heading out in about 24 hours and I have to work today, but I am just not feelin' it. It's definitely one of those days where I just wanna turn off my phone and lay in bed all day and snuggle. Or go to a pool.

On a side note, I honestly think I'm developing a problem with buying nail polish. It is almost impossible for me to go out and not buy at least one polish. It's a great day if I only buy one, I usually walk out with 5 or 6. BUT I did buy a container yesterday that is PERFECT for my nail polish. It's on the large side but it holds EVERYTHING.

Love it!

Simple Everyday Look

Today is either going to be extremely good or extremely bad.. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I'm excited.

Here's a quick tutorial of my look today!

I primed my eyes with ELF's eyelid primer then used NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencil in French Fries as a base. I blended it slightly to avoid creasing. I used the crease color in my Wet n Wild Color Icon trio in Knock on Wood all over my lid and crease. I just used my Sonia Kashuk tapered blending brush. By only using French Fries on my lid, it gave my shadow a different look on my lid than in the crease. I lined my eyes with Milani Liquif'eye in Black. Then I used LashBlast and Rimmel's Max Bold Curves mascaras.

For blush I used CoverGirl TRUcheeks blush in 5. I applied the middle color with a stippling brush. For lips I lined my lips with Jordana lip liner in Natural then used Jordana Pretty Shine gloss in Dazzling over top.

Super quick, super simple, super pretty :) and inexpensive!

SN: My camera always makes my skin look funky and I don't like it :(

Hope you enjoy! :D

HOLY haul! Pt. 2

That was a mildly extensive haul just on that order. Hang on tight. There's more.

I had to go to my favorite store (Dollar General) to pick up basic things like makeup remover, face wash, tampons, etc. Of course I can't go in there and walk out with only what I intended to buy. I needed a new black Art Deco polish so I bought one of them and I also picked up an AMBI Complexion Cleansing Bar. I'm excited to try it to see if it works. If not, my face will just smell extremely good. It's described as a "light fresh scent". Indeed it is. It's like that perfect laundry detergent smell.
Last stop.. Walgreens! I just stopped in to see if they had any good makeup on clearance or sale. Sure enough.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear on sale. You might as well have just said my name. AND they had new colors! Happy, happy girl. I picked up Posh Plum (an iridescent plum), Going Green (a true Kelly green with a slight shimmer to it), Deep Blue Sea (grayed blue with TONS of shimmer), and Time to Shine (taupe-ish with TONS of shimmer). They're all so beautiful. Especially TTS. I'm slowly working my way to owning every color in the collection.
Posh Plum, Going Green, Deep Blue Sea, Time to Shine

I also picked up a Sinful Colors polish in Cream Pink. It's a hot pink. And it's fabulous. I picked up a little angled brush that they had there too. It's an eyeliner brush, but I'm going to use it for my brows. I have two of the Wet n Wild Eyeshadow Collection palettes, but I decided to try the trios (Color Icon). I picked up Silent Treatment and Knock on Wood. They're both kind of similar, but very different at the same time. The Color Icon trios have some wild colors, but for now I'm sticking to the neutrals. I'll probably own the whole collection before the summers over.
Studio 35 Eyeliner Brush, Sinful Colors- Cream Pink, Wet n Wild Color Icon Trios in Silent Treatment and Knock on Wood

Okay now I don't know what they're doing with Jordana, but almost all of their products were on clearance. Now when I say clearance. I mean, damn near free.  I went a little crazy and got one of everything. I apparently picked up some that weren't clearanced but they were still less than a dollar. Lipliners and eyeliners out the wazoo. Aside from the two that weren't clearanced, nothing was over $0.50. I got eyeliners for $0.17! And $0.25! OMG I couldn't pass it up. Surprisingly, I didn't even grab two of something. So excited.

Jordana Eyeliner in Medium Brown, Lip Liner in Natural, Nutmeg, and Deep Purple, Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Espresso, Cool Aqua, Parisian Plum, and Green Gables, Easyliner for Lips in Sugar Bronze, Honey Dip, and Sedona Red, Eyeliner in Taupe and Black, and Lip Liner in Mousse
Almost forgot I picked up this fabulous lip gloss! Might just be my new favorite :)
Jordana Pretty Shine Luxury Gloss in Dazzling
This was a very successful haul. Long, but successful. I really can't wait to try all of these products! Hope you had fun keeping up!

On another note: God really works in mysterious ways. I CANNOT help but say that I am nothing but blessed :)

HOLY haul! Pt. 1

I realized that I haven't blogged in a week, but to be honest.. I've been busy-ish. Not really busy, but busier than I have been. Also, I can't blog in this heat. I feel like all of my makeup is melting. This has got to slow down some. I will not have melted makeup and nail polish bursting into flames.. my world will crumble. Seriously.

Sooooo, I kinda, sorta, maybe did a little, tiny bit of shopping. Just a smidgen. JAY KAY. I feel like I've gone a little overboard. Once again, shame on you debit card and online stores with great deals.

For the past week, I've been waiting for my ELF order to come in. Today, I felt like a little kid waiting for Santa Claus by running to the door every hour to see if the mail had come. I even kept a tab open that was tracking my order. THAT is how excited I was.

I ordered a decent amount and must say I was extremely pleased. Besides my melted/broken/idk-what-the-hell-happened lipstick :(

It is so hard to find a drugstore concealer that matches my skin tone. I got tired of looking and was just gonna go to MAC and pay the money because I knew it would work. UNTILLLLLLL I found ELF's complete coverage concealer in Dark. I was so happy (I'll probably say that after every product because really, everything in this haul makes me so happy). I decided to give it a try. I have their corrective concealer and I am not impressed. Granted, I don't have that much use for it, but I was still iffy. Let me bite my tongue.

There's 4 shades so you can mix them to get your perfect shade (I mix the two lightest shades). The consistency is nice, on the oily side, but nice. It comes with a little brush, but I prefer to use my fingers, and a mirror in the compact. And guess what? It conceals! It covered my blemishes right up. Matches my skin tone and covers my blemishes for $3? I'll take it.

I've recently become slightly obsessed with their cream liners. It didn't help that they came out with a teal (one of my favorite colors), so of course I bought it. Online does the real thing no justice whatsoever. My jaw dropped when I saw it in the package. It is beautiful! The only thing is that it's not as opaque as the other liners. It could be just their new colors, but to get full opacity you would probably need to go over it twice. This is just my first impression, based off of a swatch, so I could be wrong. I'm still in love with it though. I think it might be my favorite item out of the whole haul. It also has sparkles and an iridescent to it. It's adorable.

Since it's been so hot out, I haven't been wearing much makeup at all. Surprisingly, I haven't really needed to. My friend and I spent a couple days at her grandparent's condo earlier this week and soaked up some rays.. for an entire day and I do believe the sun is your friend. Well, my friend anyways. It evened out my face and I feel like it made my skin clearer. I have a nice glow that, for once, isn't sweat or my oily skin. I've also been looking for a nice tinted moisturizer so I decided to try ELF's. I'm not sure how I feel about it because I haven't had a chance to test it out for a full day. It has a really great smell though. Kind of like lotion. It's pleasant and it has SPF 15 in it. Lately, instead of just foundation, I've been mixing a little drop of it in my moisturizer for a homemade lighter coverage. I'm the shade Toffee Tone 4. It looks a lot darker online.

I also picked up a couple lipsticks which I am pleased with besides the one that didn't survive the whole trip. I emailed them so hopefully they let me get another one because out of the three that I picked up, it was my favorite shade. I also picked up a shimmering facial whip in Spotlight. Why? I have no idea. This is my third and I have yet to find a use for them. The idea sounded nice at the time. I got their eyelid primer in the two new shades, Pearl and Golden. I'm excited to try them out. Although when I swatched Pearl it seemed to be a little too oily, but once it was blended it seemed to be okay. I also ordered the waterproof eyeliner pen in Teal. Why did I buy two teal eyeliners? No clue. Good thing is that they're two different shades. The cream liner is more of a bright teal and the pen is a deeper teal. I had to let the pen stand straight up so the color would come out more so I'm interested to see how it works. It seemed to be drier than the others that I've tried. Last but not least, I picked up the stipple brush. It's not very dense, but I love it. A lot. Oh! I also got a free brightening eye color quad in Glam. It's mainly pinks, which I'm not normally a fan of but me likey.
Stipple Brush (which I've used already), Essential Lipstick in Seductive, Essential Lipstick in Gypsy, Eyelid Primer in Pearl, Eyelid Primer in Golden, Cream Eyeliner in Teal Tease
Not pictured: Essential Lipstick in Fantasy :(

Top Row: Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Teal, Shimmering Facial Whip in Spotlight, Corrective Coverage Concealer in Dark
Bottom Row: Brightening Eye Color in Glam and Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 in Toffee Tone 4
I've decided to do a second post for the rest of my haul. I didn't expect this one to be this long.. hahah

YAYY! for HAULS!

Today I am one happy girl. Shopping is the ABSOLUTE best therapy EVER.

I did some damage today. A lot of the damage occurred before I even left my bed this morning. Online shopping might be the best and worst thing invented. It's best during the holidays when people come into my jobs and complain when I just want to tell them to do all their shopping online. It's worst on days like this morning when I just lay in bed and browse websites and wanna buy everything. Shame on you internet and debit cards.

I'm so excited to share all that I got today. I didn't buy that much, but I'm still excited. I'll be more excited when my online purchases come in!

My first purchase was from Bath and Body Works. Ever since they came in, I've been eying this bad boy at work. So I bought it.

It's the perfect size to carry all of my makeup that I decide to travel with. So pumped. Oh, and it's adorable. Because the one I had before, I will probably use to stick my brushes in inside of this. It has a little pouch on the front which is great. I'm just afraid that it's going to get ridiculously dirty because 1) the majority of the outside is white and 2) the inside is cloth. Eek.

Then I went to Target and did more damage. I went in for ONE thing and walked out with five. :( Most of the things are of great use though. I got this cute little container for my brushes. I love the color and it's perfect for them since I'm reorganizing my makeup. I'm going back to buy more because I love love LOVE them.

I also bought these cute little ribbons to decorate it with.

I bought this mesh storage bin. Not quite sure what I will use it for yet, but I'm sure I will find use for it. It's pink and cute.

Naturally, I can't go anywhere without buying nail polish. So I bought another Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Fuchsia Power. It's just a bright creme pink.

Lastly, I bought what I originally went into Target for was ELF'S cream eyeliner in Black. I have it in Midnight (blue) but black is a staple in every girls (or guys) makeup collections.

THEN I went to a local beauty store that carries NYX because I've been trying to get my hands on either their jumbo pencil in Milk or their white eyeshadow base. No luck whatsoever in that. But, it wouldn't be true Olysse fashion if I walked out of there without buying anything.

I bought the NYX trio eyeshadows in #25 (Beanie, Red Bronze, Red Bean). It's super cute. I'm excited to try them out. I also bought a NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Yogurt. Mainly for an inner corner highlight. I'm excited to try that too. I also bought a NYX auto lip liner in Natural.

As I thought I was done, I took one more glance at their makeup and then golden rays of light came down and music started playing around this product. A WHITE EYESHADOW BASE. I almost cried in the store, right then and there. It's the LA girl PRO Primer in White. It's beautiful. Unline NYX's jumbo pencils, it's auto. LA Girl is steppin' their products and packaging up. I'm proud of them. Needless to say, my unnecessary shopping trip was successful.

NYX is an inexpensive brand to begin with, but you can get it cheaper if you find it in local beauty supply stores. You'll be surprised what little random spots will carry NYX or Sinful Colors for dollars cheaper than what you'll find it for online or at ULTA.

Nothing I bought was over $5 :) Except the cosmetic bag which was only $10, but I got my discount :):):)

E.L.F Brushes

I've been slacking extremely and I have absolutely no excuse for it. Maybe it's because I've been consumed in the Harry Potter marathons going on.. yep, that's it.

I've thought about whether I wanted to do a tutorial or what I should talk about because I feel like if I review a product everyday, that would get boring. Maybe I'll do a tutorial later when I get ready for work.. sounds like a good idea.

One of the greatest things that I've come across in my inexpensive makeup journey is E.L.F Cosmetics, in particular their brushes. I was first introduced to E.L.F about 5 years ago when a Target close to me was going out of business and ever since then, it's been love. Back then, I didn't really care too much about the quality since I was so young, but now I totally respect them and the fact that they're progressively making their products better.

The key to creating the perfect look is having the right brushes. Spending $20+ on one eye shadow brush is just unrealistic to me. That's why E.L.F is so great. Their brushes range from $1-$5 and they have just about every brush you could need.

I have almost all of the brushes from their Essentials line, which are $1. I also have almost all of the brushes from their Studio line, which are $3. I do not own any of their mineral brushes, which are $5.

If I do say so myself, the $1 brushes are fabulous for the price. The quality isn't comparable to MAC, but it sure surpasses what you should get for $1. There are about 14 brushes total in the Essentials, including two new brushes which I have yet to get my hands on.

The only problem I have with these brushes are that they tend to separate from the barrel. That could just be from my brushes being a little older and being sloppy when I clean them and getting water in the barrel. That is honestly my only problem. They get the job done without shedding all over my face, with the exception of the Blushing, Bronzing, and Blending brush. I should've clarified a bit more, I've mainly been talking about the eye brushes. The face brushes are okay, they're not my favorite. Like I've said, they're $1 so I'm really not expecting much out of them.

The studio brushes are a different story. They are FABULOUS. Yes they are $3, but it's worth it. They are made with a little better quality and they're packaged differently. They look expensive. I'm all for looking like a million bucks when I barely spent any money.

I don't really know what else to say about them besides the fact that they're ABFAB. I haven't had any problems with them shedding or loosening from the barrel yet. I just love them. They're like my children.

In my tutorials, about 99% of my brushes will be E.L.F. So if you're looking to get your brush game up without breaking the bank, this is the brand to go for. Dollar General, Big Lots, and Dollar Tree all sell the Essentials brushes, and Target sells both Essentials and Studio brushes. If you're willing to invest the extra $2, go for the Studio brushes. I do recommend buying the eye shadow and blending eye brush from Essentials though. Studio face brushes are great and Essentials eye brushes are great. So you pick.

I also recommend buying the brush shampoo and the daily disinfecting spray (which I still have YET to get my hands on), but they are both also $3. I try to clean my brushes at least once every week. I'm starting to double up on my brushes so I don't have to clean them as often, which is terrible. I do the same thing with my laundry. Instead of doing laundry, I'll just go buy more clothes. I need to kick that habit.

Currently on E.L.F's website, you can get 7 Studio brushes for free (excluding the stipple and kabuki) with a $30 purchase using the code 7BRUSHES at checkout. They ALWAYS have some sort of deal going on.

Here's some more goodies for the website :)
